HAPPY NINE MONTHS!!

Yesterday we celebrated nine months since the amazing day in which our son was born. Carlos hung a swing for him in our house (into which we still haven´t moved) and he LOVES it!!
Since yesterday he´s already been on it at least five times and while he´s on it he smiles and giggles and sings. Yes, he sings!! to the feel and rithm of the swing, aaaah what a cutie!! It´s no secret I´m in love over here, people, in LOVE!!
ps: this is yesterday´s dpp ten post...

dpp, day two

this is my first entry for this year´s December Photo Project. I missed day one cause we had to take a quick trip to the city yesterday to see our friend´s art show opening and the camera stayed and rested... as it turns out, last year I also missed the first day, so it seems to be part of the tradition for me.
Time for interneting is limited for me these days, but I´ll try to keep up.
Today´s photo is little B inspecting one of daddy´s tools...

HOME

As you can see, a LOT of progress has been made on the house. It has been an amazing journey and Carlos has done everything himself, which is preety amazing. Everything, from planning and designing to the actusl hammer and nail, digging, cutting carrying and so on, all the little details, every single thing, all by himself. To be perfectly honest he did have our new friend Matteus from Germany helping him for one week, which was wonderful, as that week was one of solid progress. But other than that week, every. little. thing. all of it, has been done by Carlos with strong constant and active hard work. I love my man and am so very proud (and exited about moving soon to our own home!!).
I know the photos don´t show much, but it´s a glipse and I´ll soon share more.

SIGNS OF SUMMER

While it´s still officially spring, signs of summer have come to stay. where we live, the differences in the seasons are very, very notorious, specially in the colors. winter, summer and fall, the grass everywhere is bright green. The brightest green you´ve ever seen. Summer is a whole other thing, another pallete: GOLD. Every. where. you. look. golden golden dry and oh so hot.
I actually haven´t blogged in a while, and here i am, rambling about the color of grass, as if there´s nothing more to share. The truth is, Carlos has made HUGE progress on the building of our house, i took some photos a couple days ago but they allready seem outdated, it´s changing so fast! So i think i´ll better come back tomorrow to share some fresh ones.
Balthazar, my adored little boy is eight months today. He began crawling, in a comando style, this week, and has six teeth, two on the bottom on four on the top. he´s funny and cute and loves to giggle. i love him with every cell in my body, every thought in my mind and all the spark in my soul.
ps: cherries and peaches are in season. yum.
pps: this post is dedicated to my friend MarĂa in Switzerland who wrote my an email and told me to keep posting

Mama-made pants

I am no pro sewer, and had never made pants before, but turns out, I had to. There really aren´t many choices when it comes to shopping for baby clothes around here, and honestly, I needed the challenge, boy needed pants and it was fun all the while! I was getting more and more "crafty" during my pregnancy, but since the bub came earthside, I had not yet found the time/energy to persue any project beyond keeping the house somewhat clean and tidy, having food on the table and keeping baby happy, fed, clean and warm. But thus no more! I am back! Sewing machine you are a good friend oh yes indeed. I wanted to make pants that woold be sort of "bloomers", so I followed this tutorial, omiting the ruffles and freestyling a bit here and there.
First I made these ones with a thrifted "horses on a landscape" cotton printed fabric. I´m actually very happy with how they turned out. I don´t know if you can notice from the photos, but the hoses are "feet-up" jeje, my bad, but hey, my mum saw them and realised: you made them like that so that Balthazar can see the horses right side up from up! Smart lady indeed.
And then I made these ones from a soft striped wool fabric. They´re nice and soft but the cut is a little off, I wasn´t really going for this aladinesque sillouette, but oh well. On other news, tomorrow is my birthday, and I am very proud to say I will be thirty. A thirty year old wife and mama, smile.
